The 2030 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Morocco alongside Spain, and Portugal will be a “great success,” stated Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on April 15 in Madrid. goldparty.lat

Speaking during a joint press briefing with his Portuguese counterpart, Luis Montenegro, Sanchez stressed that the “2030 World Cup will be a great success because we are three nations, Portugal, Spain, and Morocco, who love football as societies”.

“We have a long, proven record in organizing sporting events, which demonstrates our organizational capacity”, added the head of the Spanish government.

“I am sure that the World Cup will be a great organizational success with a friendly country like Morocco,” he affirmed.

For his part, Montenegro reiterated the “full commitment” of the three countries to guarantee the success of this global event, noting that Portugal, Spain, and Morocco are convinced of the importance of this event on multiple levels.

“It will be an opportunity to showcase to the world the values that we defend in Portugal, Spain, and Morocco,” concluded the Portuguese official.

أكد خالد الكواري مدير إدارة التسويق والاتصال بالاتحاد القطري لكرة القدم الانتهاء من جميع الترتيبات الخاصة بسفر الجماهير القطرية إلى الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية لمساندة وتشجيع المنتخب القطري خلال مشاركته في منافسات كأس العالم، مؤكداً أن الاتحاد حرص على توفير كافة سبل الراحة والدعم للجماهير من أجل ضمان حضور مميز ومؤثر خلف العنابي في هذا الحدث العالمي الكبير.
وأوضح الكواري والمتواجد حاليا في أمريكا للتجهيز واستقبال الجماهير المصاحبة للعنابي خلال رحلة المونديال أن هناك تنسيقاً كاملاً ومستمراً مع مختلف الجهات والأجهزة المعنية التي ساهمت بشكل كبير في إنجاح ترتيبات الرحلة، موجهاً الشكر والتقدير لكل الجهات المتعاونة على ما بذلته من جهود كبيرة لخدمة الجماهير القطرية وتسهيل إجراءات سفرها وإقامتها وتنقلاتها خلال البطولة. كما خص بالشكر السفارات القطرية في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وكندا على تعاونها المستمر ودعمها لكافة الخطط والترتيبات المتعلقة بالجماهير.
وأشار مدير التسويق والاتصالات بالاتحاد القطري لكرة القدم إلى أن وفود الاتحاد قامت خلال الفترة الماضية بعدة زيارات ميدانية للفنادق المخصصة لإقامة الجماهير، إضافة إلى تفقد الملاعب التي ستستضيف مباريات المنتخب الوطني، وذلك بهدف الوقوف على جميع التفاصيل التنظيمية وضمان توفير أفضل الخدمات للمشجعين القطريين خلال فترة البطولة.
وكشف الكواري عن خطة سفر الجماهير التي تم إعدادها بعناية، موضحاً أن الرحلات ستتم على ثلاث دفعات متتالية، حيث ستغادر الدفعة الأولى يوم التاسع من الشهر الجاري، تليها الدفعة الثانية في العاشر من الشهر نفسه، على أن تغادر الدفعة الثالثة يوم الحادي عشر، وذلك وفق جدول زمني يضمن وصول الجماهير إلى المدن المستضيفة لمباريات المنتخب في الوقت المناسب.
وأكد الكواري أن الجماهير القطرية ستظهر خلال البطولة بزيها الوطني التقليدي، معتبراً أن هذه الخطوة تحمل رسالة حضارية مهمة تعكس الاعتزاز بالهوية الوطنية والثقافة القطرية. وقال إن ارتداء الثوب والغترة يمثل صورة مشرقة لدولة قطر أمام جماهير العالم، ويؤكد تمسك القطريين بعاداتهم وتقاليدهم أينما وجدوا، مشيراً إلى أن الحضور الجماهيري سيكون فرصة للتعريف بالموروث الثقافي القطري وتعزيز الصورة الإيجابية للدولة على الساحة الدولية.
وأضاف أن الاتحاد القطري لكرة القدم حرص كذلك على التنسيق الكامل مع الملحقية الثقافية القطرية، حيث تمت دعوة جميع الطلاب القطريين الدارسين في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وكندا للمشاركة في دعم المنتخب الوطني خلال مبارياته. كما تم توجيه الدعوة لمرافقي المرضى القطريين الموجودين هناك من أجل الحضور والمشاركة في هذه التظاهرة الرياضية العالمية، بما يسهم في خلق أجواء جماهيرية داعمة للعنابي في مختلف المدن التي سيخوض فيها مبارياته. وشدد الكواري على أن ما يتم إنجازه حالياً هو نتاج عمل جماعي متكامل داخل الاتحاد القطري لكرة القدم، حيث تعمل مختلف الإدارات واللجان بروح الفريق الواحد من أجل تحقيق هدف أساسي يتمثل في خدمة الجماهير وتسهيل مهمتها خلال رحلتها خلف المنتخب الوطني. وأكد أن راحة المشجعين تمثل أولوية قصوى للاتحاد الذي يسعى إلى توفير كافة التسهيلات اللازمة لهم.
وفيما يتعلق بالجماهير العربية، أكد الكواري ترحيب الاتحاد القطري لكرة القدم بجميع المنتخبات العربية المشاركة في البطولة، مشيراً إلى أن الجماهير القطرية تساند وتدعم جميع الأشقاء العرب في المحافل الدولية. لكنه أوضح في الوقت نفسه أن مباريات المنتخب القطري تفرض برنامجاً خاصاً للجماهير القطرية نظراً لتوزع اللقاءات على مدن مختلفة وبعيدة جغرافياً عن مواقع إقامة بعض المنتخبات العربية الأخرى، الأمر الذي يتطلب تنقلات مستمرة لمواكبة مسيرة العنابي خلال البطولة.
كما وجه الكواري دعوة مفتوحة إلى الجماهير العربية ومختلف الجاليات العربية المقيمة في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وكندا للحضور ومؤازرة المنتخب القطري في مبارياته، مؤكداً أن دعم الجماهير العربية سيشكل إضافة مهمة للأجواء الحماسية في المدرجات.
واختتم الكواري تصريحاته بالإشارة إلى تخصيص مركز متكامل لخدمة الجماهير داخل الفنادق المعتمدة، حيث سيتولى تقديم المساعدة والإجابة عن الاستفسارات وتوفير الدعم اللازم للمشجعين طوال فترة البطولة. وأعرب عن ثقته الكبيرة في قدرة المنتخب القطري على تقديم مستويات مشرفة خلال مشاركته المونديالية، متمنياً التوفيق للعنابي في مشواره بالمنافسات وتحقيق النتائج التي تلبي طموحات الجماهير القطرية والعربية.

Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Chess Association (QCA) has successfully concluded the Qatar Foundation Primary Schools Championship 2026, held in cooperation with Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development and the Ministry of Sports and Youth.

The tournament featured 47 players representing six schools and highlighted the growing popularity of chess among young students in Qatar.

In the boys’ competition, Nasser Faisal Al Thani of My Academy and Ibrahim Tutunji of Qatar Academy Doha shared first place with 5.5 points each. Abdulrahman Al Saifi of My Academy finished second with five points, while Arman Ramjan and Ahmed Al Hawaj of Qatar Academy Msheireb secured third place with 4.5 points.

Qatar Academy Doha dominated the girls’ category, with Sofia Zubertska claiming first place ahead of Aisha Abdulaziz Al Khalifa and Munira Al Mohannadi. The school also won the team title.

QCA Executive Director Hamad Al-Tamimi praised the partnership with Qatar Foundation, noting that the championship showcased promising talent and supported efforts to promote chess culture among students.

The event forms part of an ongoing agreement between the two organisations aimed at expanding chess participation in schools, increasing the number of FIDE-rated players, and developing a strong foundation for the sport across Qatar.

Doha, Qatar: Jassim Al Jassim, CEO of the Local Organising Committee for Football Events (LOC) in Qatar, participated in the Foreign Policy Sports Diplomacy Summit held at the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Washington D.C. to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States and the countdown to the FIFA World Cup 2026.

The summit brought together leaders from government, diplomacy, media, and investment to explore sport's growing role as a tool for international cooperation and economic development.

“Qatar’s hosting journey did not end with the FIFA World Cup 2022,” said His Excellency Sheikh Meshal bin Hamad Al Thani, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the United States.

“The expertise and partnerships built through that tournament continue to support the global sporting community, including preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2026 across North America. We are proud that Qatar’s hosting legacy is contributing to the next chapter of World Cup history, and that hosting the Foreign Policy Sports Diplomacy Summit reflects our commitment to advancing international dialogue through sport.”

Speaking on a panel titled Welcoming the World: Leadership Lessons From Mega Event Hosts, Al Jassim reflected on the lasting legacy of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, which showcased Arab culture, hospitality, and operational excellence on a global stage, firmly establishing Qatar on the world map of sport.

“For Qatar, hosting FIFA World Cup 2022 was never the finish line. It was the foundation for building long-term national capabilities. We weren't building for one event; we were building an ecosystem and a generation of expertise,” said Al Jassim.

“Today we continue to benefit from the infrastructure, expertise, partnerships and international relationships that were strengthened through the tournament. Equally important is human legacy. Thousands of people developed new skills and capabilities that continue to contribute to Qatar and to international sport.”

Al Jassim also addressed the cultural impact of hosting international sporting events, describing how Qatar's sporting legacy has united fans from across the globe and invited them to immerse themselves in local culture, helping to break down stereotypes and misconceptions about the region.

“Sport is one of the few truly universal languages. It allows countries to tell their story in a way that transcends politics, geography and culture. The lesson for any major national celebration is that people connect with authenticity. The most powerful stories are not manufactured; they come from a country's people, values and lived experiences. The World Cup gave us a platform to showcase who we are as a nation, but also who we aspire to be. The event became a bridge between cultures and a vehicle for mutual understanding.”

Since hosting the Middle East's first FIFA World Cup, Qatar has built an illustrious sporting legacy featuring a number of record-breaking events, including the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™ and three consecutive FIFA tournaments in 2025: the first 48-team FIFA U-17 World Cup, the FIFA Arab Cup, and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.

“Hosting at this scale is ultimately about people. Infrastructure is important, but infrastructure alone does not deliver a World Cup or a continental championship. What delivers those events are thousands of highly trained people working together across security, transport, operations, technology, media, hospitality, healthcare and dozens of other functions,” said Al Jassim.

As the world turns its attention to the next FIFA World Cup in North America, Al Jassim underscored Qatar's commitment to building on its sporting legacy through knowledge sharing and international cooperation.

A dedicated team of experts from Qatar – who played key roles in delivering landmark tournaments in the country – has been deployed across several Host Cities in the United States and Canada to support delivery of the FIFA World Cup 2026, under a knowledge and expertise transfer Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) and FIFA. A second contingent of SC staff and stakeholders is participating in an observation programme to deepen understanding of cross-border mega-events.

“Every tournament leaves its own unique mark on football and on the world. Qatar 2022 was a historic moment for the Middle East and Arab world. FIFA World Cup 2026™ will be historic for different reasons,” Al Jassim concluded.

Qatar will welcome the world once again when it hosts the second of five consecutive editions of the FIFA U-17 World Cup from 19 November to 13 December.
