Brazil delegation arrives in Kolkata ahead of October 3 India friendly
Brazilian FA delegation has arrived in Kolkata to inspect VYBK, training facilities and hospitality arrangements ahead of October 3 friendly; Seleção expected to arrive on September 30.
The countdown to the much-anticipated international friendly between Brazil and India has begun, with a seven-member delegation from the Brazilian Football Confederation arriving in Kolkata on Thursday to inspect the VYBK Stadium, training facilities and hospitality arrangements ahead of the match scheduled for October 3.
According to reports, the five-time world champions are expected to arrive with a 96-member contingent. The Brazilian team will train at the AIFF National Centre of Excellence in New Town and is likely to stay at a hotel near the airport.
The delegation will first inspect the playing surface and security arrangements at the VYBK Stadium. They will also assess the training facilities and hospitality arrangements to ensure everything is in place for the Brazilian team’s visit.
“A seven-member team from the Brazilian Football Confederation is coming to Kolkata to inspect the stadium, training ground and hospitality arrangements as well. The five-member team includes an administrator, operations manager, supervisor, physiologist and security in-charge,” State Sports Minister Dr Indranil Khan said on Wednesday.
“The West Bengal government, under the guidance of the honourable Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, has started working to offer a world-class experience to the Brazil team,” he added.
The Brazil senior men’s national team will play an international friendly against India on October 3, 2026, in Kolkata.
Five-time world champions Brazil are the most successful men’s national team in football. India will host the Seleção at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in what promises to be one of the biggest matches in Indian football history.
Brazil are expected to arrive in Kolkata with a full-strength squad, unless any key player is ruled out due to injury. The team is expected to arrive on September 30, three days before the fixture.
The match will see India face the highest-ranked opposition that they have faced since the FIFA World Ranking was introduced in 1992, with Brazil currently ranked fifth in the world.
Brazil’s legacy has inspired generations of footballers across the world, including millions of passionate supporters in India. The country is also home to one of the largest Brazilian fan bases outside Brazil.
