'It’s a goal that I want to achieve...': David Miller ahead of global showpiece

The ODI World Cup 2027 is set to be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.

Ahead of the global showpiece, South African batsman David Miller said that winning a World Cup is one of the goals that he wants to achieve.

"I am really looking forward to it. For me, it’s a goal that I want to achieve. I would love to finish off late in my career with a trophy. So, for me, it’s a goal that I would love to be a part of that World Cup team," he said on JioStar.

The left-handed batsman said that he will be focused on making a cut into South Africa's squad for the ODI World Cup 2027. He also feels that it would be special to take the field in front of the home crowd in a mega event like World Cup.

"It’s something that is never guaranteed, and I’ll definitely, from now until then, be focused on aiming to make that team and to contribute the best I can. Obviously, it will be very special, being at home in front of our fans, and in a place that I’ve played for so many years. So, it would be fantastic to be a part of that team," said Miller.

Earlier, a grand ceremony in Johannesburg unveiled the 12 venues that will host next year's ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, with eight venues in South Africa, three in Zimbabwe and one in Namibia's capital Windhoek selected as tournament locations.

South Africa will host games at Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, SuperSport Park in Centurion, Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town, Kingsmead Cricket Ground in Durban, St George's Park in Gqeberha, Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein, Boland Park in Paarl and Buffalo Park in KuGompo City (formerly East London), according to the ICC website.

Zimbabwe will stage matches at Harare Sports Club in Harare, Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo and Fale Mosi-oa-Tunya International Cricket Stadium in Victoria Falls, while Namibia's capital Windhoek will host games at the Namibia Cricket Ground.
